...and here we are not talking about music or literature. I mean the Kinesio- Tape. The tape is actually not a new thing as it was already in use in Japan (the adhesive technology is from Kenzo Kase from Japan) but became popular through David Beckham here in Europe and the rest of the western world and is now a common sight on sports events and many private people have it too, as the tape can be used for a lot of things.
First of all it was meant to save muscles from getting tire to early, but then it also helps when you have pain or an inflammation. You often see those tapes on arms, shoulders and legs or at a foot.
But how they work is still kind of a question, as science still haven't found out.
If you google, you read a lot of positive comments on getting a tape, but less from people who used them- it's more of those who produce them or papers. When you google a bit longer you find the question coming up- is it working? Does it really help? As with so many things a 100% help is not to guaranty for several reason. Does it really help your muscles and joints? The pressure is more on the skin and this helps sure to better an inflammation as the skin gets gently lifted and massaged. And it sure seems that your pain become less when using the tapes but no one really knows why. But to stabilize the muscles I think this is another story. I got tapes last week and can say I felt a stabilizing effect on the ankles but just for three days, then it was like the tape was to weak and had no effect at all. On my back I felt no effect at all. But then on some internet sides I read that you have to take the tape therapy about six weeks.
If it works, it is worth the money, but if not?
Sometimes you can read that you can tape yourself with a little instruction. Other warn about that as it can lead to inflammation of your veins. That can also happen, if you got the tape the right way on you- as it happened to me. And not all can take the tape because of allergic reaction.
Some recommend the Tapes also for menstrual cramps.
No wonder you are wondering if this is more in your mind working- has it a placebo effect?... But then again when you google you read that doctors say that t.ex. a hamstring can heal 50% faster with those colorful tapes, you may think it can't be that bad, even if it is a result of your mind.
Yes, some also say the color of the Tape is important while others say it does not matter at all and can be used as you wish, in pink, blue, or having a fire pattern.
In laboratory test they found out that over the half of the tape you can buy has ingredients which can cause cancer, but mostly allergies when they get in contact with the skin and in this case you wonder why you are able to buy them.
But apart from that, it seems they help when you have inflammation, or want to avoid them, when it is all non muscular, like muscles aches. If it is about the muscles self the effect can be zero or very less.
On the reputable sites they also write that the Tape is just a part of a therapy and does not replace any other work or therapy which has to be done. And I will ad it is better to be aware of that and always ask for the whole therapy plan. Make yes, your own practical knowledge. And have some money, as those things cost quite a lot and you have to pay it buy yourself.
You're like always welcome to tell me about your experiences with those Tape Therapy as I am curious to hear and read what others have to tell.
Love & Light
