Home is where the heart is?

The other day a friend of mine posted something about how language can change your feeling of beeing home in a language. 

Most of us are used to one, two or max. three different languages. Most will also just speak one perfect as it is the mother language. Some will also achieve a higher level in the second language and therefore most have no problems to identify with the mother language as their very own. 

But then there are people who learn more then three, they learn four, five, six or even much more different languages and all more or lesson good. Some can actually speak most of those learned very well. 

But people learn also there is a price for learning more. 

You lose your mother language. Even more, when you travel a lot and more when you also work in another language. The common sence makes it necessary in many ways to use another language as the main language to speak with. 

When you then come back where you are from you change your point of view you have from the place you're from. It's the adventure you have started. A lesson in seeing things different as with each language you learn, you think also different. 

Science has not long ago found out that this is actually the case, that language is not only culture it defines your way of thinking. 

Another common experience for people speaking more than in one main language is they also think in those other languages and when they speak in their mother language they sometimes know the right worth in all the other languages but their own mother language. 

So feeling home on the place you are coming from is something which becomes lesser. Everytime you return to your old home you say goodbye to it. More and more it does not matter where you live. You are no longer home in the language and therefore the palce you stay can be anywhere. 

Each time you learn more about the new and old places, you learn about you something new and each time you do, you get away from what was important and what did indeed define your personality. The focus on what is important change and the place you will feel home is literally the place where your heart is and this means also for most of those, of us, who travel much, who speak different languages, that it gets harder to find a place to settle down as this is not an option for us like the common human. We have harder to imagine staying in one place all our life. We don't see the need for that and we need the chance to grow as you learn that growing is part of your vision of life. If you feel not home in a language you can't settle down ever again. If you think and dream in different langauges, you maybe start with having two hearts beating in your chest and then the places you are, become places you just simple are. 

Seeing all those possibilities, all those chances, all those things to learn and see and touch makes you the adventure under your friends and with time you discover that the most important friends you collect around you have become the same. 

Another thing is, you will never be really part of a group like the common people know it. You can get inside but will be always outside in the same time. Different languages makes you see from the inside and the outside to your self, your situation. You have easier to leave, but decision are all but easy to make. You know better what you want but always have to ask you more and exactly. You take the harder way, as you need to come through, thought you take the easy going way at the end, as you know things can get only better and nothing is forever. 

So after all, yes speaking more languages can give you much for your personality but you will lose the feeling of feeling home in one and also feeling home on only one place and vene find the place to feel home.  You will be richer in every way but you will also leave the save place of being sure how to talk proper all the time. You simple lose the ability to know, to remember each word you've learned once. It is simple impossible to speak all in the same time. 

Life will be different and the challenges maybe bigger, but you will discover beauty, wher others never will see one or even catch the chance to se it.
