WEll, sometimes, after a long day and when the work was quite hard and much to do, I like to look at the pics I made on a holiday... We all have these pics somewhere home and I guess everyone is taking them out from time to time and so do I.
For nowadays we have them on our computer, but I try to get real photos in the end, cos as we know these pics last longer then a CD or DVD and you have to really look through, wish one are the best, what is not so easy this time, 'cos we make a hundred more then in the past.
One of my last holidays was to fly to Fuerteventura. An Island next to Africa, but is part of spain. I remember when we fly over Lanzarote which is the next island my friend and I decided to cancel the plan to visit this island. It look so boring and nothing special, that we thought we could use our time for better.
Yes, Fuerteventura is not much to do either. It's and simple volcano island with a lot of sand from Africa on the on side and rocks on the other side.
But I wanted a relaxed holiday... beach, some walks, touring with a car and bicycle.
We already had a map and our little village which was made just for tourist, like the most places on the island, was next to the airport and not far away from the capital. So that means we lived in the north and had more spanish and english and scottish tourist around us. The germans used to stay in the south but for us it was right, 'cos it was also not "tourist" time... And of course the only german tourist we've met where and older couple who was exactly the image we have of german tourist- their where all the time bubbling and ranting and complaining. They of course had bad luck with the room and could not relax and see the beauty in things around them or take it easy. We did this, and had more than a good time and luck, I mean first night we could not sleep well because children a floor above us where playing all the night. So we tried to get a better room, also with ocean view. We've got it and loved it and that thing was always clear. If I am on an island, I want that ocean view. Otherwise it makes no sense. Not for me.
I must confess I do not like much of all those big hotel complexes and the stuff around that but we had luck and checked in in a little hotel, the only one at the beach and the beach was not a sand beach, so less people and... we had our hotel standing where the village started. which means.. less traffic around us.
Driving the car was kind of an adventure, 'cos the map did not exactly show how good the streets where made and how fast you could come or the distances seemed to be longer then it was. Being spontaneously helps. Several times we changed our planes and could have fun no matter what.
One trip was to go deep to the south but when we arrived to the last part, the streets where so close to the rock and so bad to drive on, that we took a turn, cos we wanted our dinner in time. Wish by the way was very good. True. Best english breakfast I ever had was there in our hotel.
and we found stone sculptures made of just people who came along and went away... loved it.
Another thing to realize was that a little zoo does not mean that animals don't feel good. O.K. you saw some animals going crazy, but to be true, just a view, the rest was obviously feeling very comfortable. The numbers of animal babies was incredible. Next to every race had a child... and that is always a good sign. Not that I am a big fan of Zoos... I mean animals should better live in wild nature not in a cave. But oh I felt in love with those little monkeys. Reminds me of Astrid Lindgren and her Pippi Longstocking.
Last but not least, holiday is also a time to make some funny things you would not do. Playing Mini Golf is such a thing. But we had so much fun. I guess also, because they made the place very nice and in the background we had the beach and the clear blue sky and the deep blue sea.
Sometimes I did wonder, what was more delightful, the beach, the ocean and it's deep blue color, that it was so easy to see the stars, that there was a way to ride with your bicycle out of the village or that they had so many street lamps standing on the way...
Of course we recognize the left buildings, the houses with no owner... We knew about the crisis but the... it was holiday...
It was just a week, but felt much more and we could have stayed two or three days longer.
So now just can say... sometimes....I like to remember these things with happiness.
LOVE & LIGHT
