Forbidden Love is always a theme in the doctors diary but also the question how to solve a problem and get through another adventure. Something we want to experience too, won't we?
We like to flee from our everyday life once in a while. See new things and be curious and open minded, being strong and have some mad man next to you and in the same time enjoy a ride into space and time.
Yes, the question always remains since the series started. Who is he? What is his real name, does he have one? Does he still know?
His companion are always our eyes to his world and they try to solve our questions and his drive.
They help him to remind sane and also to do the right thing.
I like the fact that this series mix old times, future , space places and earth adventures. They use to also take place in real history and facts.
But the series is actually also much in our time with the our question put in adventures the Doctor and his companions try to survive. The question of politics and our every day life. The way we act and the question how mankind believe, it will survive, even know this series shows that mankind will do, but the question it shows is also how. Science fiction series use to tell us much about the way people act and think and the habits we are unaware. But they also give us always a chance and show a way out and to think out of the box. They use to be more open and modern as other series.
Yes, I like Doctor Who, because it does not matter who or what you are. And gladly they really do not give a shit about your sexuality. A tree women fancies the doctor or lesbians are fighting together with him, worth as all the others, equal in his eyes. A lesbian lizard and bisexual characters, gay heros and interspecies relationships, a transgender horse and much more and even a man called Captain Jack got his own category as he fancies everyone and everyone fancies him. Even the Queen is in love with that mad man with his many faces.
Which is one reason of the success actually. The change of his face and body to fool the death, thought he can do this only 12 times. But that does not matter now. His character evolve, he change and has to find himself always a new. Think of that chance and we call it luck but with him we also see the price and also the price of living so long. Sometimes to long.
But then we like how he is funny, clever, smart, grumpy, earnest and stupid. He acts like a whirlwind and sometimes comes through like a storm and other times he seems to be such a dumb and dull alien so his companion are up to no god to help him out.
I came across this show through the series Torchwood which is actually made out of Dr. Who. And when I lived in Sweden I was able to watch the Show on TV as it is nearly not able to be seen in Germany.
Now I start to watch from the very beginning of the series as it is on TV over 50 years!
The first Doctor, an old and grumpy man and not very nice but changes with time into a man who takes things serious and takes also a look on to what action have in reactions. He understands that each thing he does leads to something more.
It is fun to watch this, as I was not sure if I would like the old version and black and white TV Show and obvious plastic set in the background and for our eyes now, bad technic.
And after all, it is entertaining, amusing, chilling and also surprisingly fun mixed with horror. You'll never know the next level. Thought the last doctor which is now airing in England and America is a challenge. First it was the scrips, now I don't know as I did not seen them. The change was always good, but now the question is also who writes the stories. It seems new fans like it but older miss the mix, the special touch this show had. Mixed feelings among the fans but then it seems that all just maybe needed time and to remember the producers to remember why they have been good.
Well, we'll see how this will go on and how long, as fans now must face the end of this series. Not knowing when or how and so many questions remain open and we all know some will never be answered as this is a reason to watch the show. But the Doctor has to die.
Then again, you are still able to learn a thing or two from watching the show. That the loudest voice is not those who tell always the truth. That a little hug can help more then a big talk, but that communication in a team is all. Being a good leader means to do it without telling people what to do and this is actually something I try to put in my work. Also to listen more carefully and see the bigger picture and behind.
But I would absolute leave for a ride in the blue box. If I hear the sound of the Tardis, I would run and find out where it has landed to get in. But in the same time I understood long ago that if you look on your own life with the right eyes, there are adventures everywhere and things to discover, to solve, to learn and get stronger, to fight and to change yourself and the question, how open minded are you.
