Feeling burn out...is this something we all know once in our life?
I guess each of us have had a feeling of a powerless situation. A time when we where just tired and did not want to go up or eat much. Feeling like after a marathon.
It mostly starts with a bit stress around your private section or at your job, then becoming more usual then it should be, then you forget about it and suddenly you're ill. But mostly we recover fast and start again. But as we often do, we forget the mistake and start stressing ourself again and so we really get ill for a longer time. Even though most time we recover again soon. So then we try starting to take things more careful and forget again after a while what took us so long to get out of sync. So you start stressing yourself again, eat the wrong food, sleep too less and lose power, 'cose you are not in the center of your own.
Mostly we are unable to say "No" when we should do. Mostly we regret and feel miserable about it afterwards. Mostly we promise ourself to better us. But then we forget. Again.
On day you feel sick again and you go to the doctor and what does he say?
You have been diagnosed with burn-out.
So easy? Too easy?
The numbers of people who got this diagnose is risen in the last ten years a lot. Are we all workin' too much, too hard? Or are we just mostly wanting simple too much from ourself or is it just a normal thing to be out of power when we forgot again our mistakes and all is easy done... I mean the way to recover and then to change our habits. Is it that easy then? We remember quite well how hard it seems to just change a simple thing. So... does this diagnose and the pills from the doc help us to better us to recover and then never again be stressed out and so to be burned-out?
But why then so many of those are having those burn-outs again and again? Is it because they start working too soon and the pills just calms down a bit and because you did not changed the way you do your day or work and the way you see on things?
Well there are those who really have a burn out and need years to recover. But many have a depression behind their burn out or other reasons why they are down and so is the question... are they weak and unhealthy, sick?
In the book of classification here in Europe the ICD is Burn-out not a disease, but in USA where another book is the bible for docs the Burn-out became just one this year- a disease.
Here we talk about a syndrome, which means a complex of signs, symptoms.
But we should wonder.. this disease is now diagnosed for next to every people, poor, out of work, a student, a teacher or for a child, a mother, for those who really work hard like nurses and for those who just sit on the selling table... to sell tickets... But some of them just need more sleep, or focus on their work, some of them just need to get back the strength to an everyday life with work and getting up every day the same time, some of them just need to say -no- once in a while and many just need to learn not to force themself to heard and lower the expectations and the fear of being to less and not worth enough.
Problem with this is, the numbers of days those people are missing on the job is rising and so the rest has to work their as of to be restless powerless in the end and being sick self. The circle of all this has already started. This does not help to highen the spirits on your working place. Not to talk about the work which is not done.
So who's foult is this? Is it the way we works nowadays? Is it that we lose secure and the power of each of us has to rise? Seems we have to do more and more, for the same money and it had to be the same quality in the same old time. So how can you feel save with this going on and on and no seeing of an end?
So to say it is now wonder then, that it became so popular to be burn-out?
I mean... if I think about the depression which lies often under the skin and gets bigger with the stress... this disease is not very kindly taken of others.. this disease has not a good image or let people think positive about you and you seem to become worthless with being a depressive human but as a burn out, you seem to be the cool, hard working human or you are the victim of the job and so you have not to take action when it is about your habits. Right.?!
I mean, with burn out you are free of next to everything people expect from another.
You are just burned not have failed. I mean, you are burned out, so you must have burned a lot before but the truth is, to get an burnout you don't need to work as hell, you can be someone without work and becoming a burn-out person. It has nothing to do with how much you work.
So who's foult is it?
The scary thing is that there is a big market which seem to help you but most of the things you can get is actually not helping or worse, it is making things badder.
You know there are a hundred of books about this burn out and how you can get rid of it of even try to not be a victim of it. Some of the books and mostly parts in the other books are actually right and gives you what is good for you and how you can live to protect yourself and stay in the center of your own life. But there is also a lot of nonsen out there.. I mean how you sit at the table on your chair or even which chair has nothing to do with burn-out.
You you read the books you may think that will do the change... well it won't... you actually have to live it and so many people start buying those extra soft shampoo and extra good feeling for the wellness home, or they take a lesson in shiatsu or buy an hour of massage and expect that this will bring them back to real good, funny life. You're not lucky every minute but every movie tells you to be like that is necessary. Well, let me tell you about this.. Being lucky means to see little things and enjoy them, to get happy, to smile whenever you want, without a reason maybe.. but it never meant to be it 24. No one does have a 24 lucky time. But if you start seeing more good things, then negative, then you're on the right way.
The next problem with those burn-out is, that the market of products is growing and it is just about money not since secure or real proper help. And so for a "normal" human it is quite difficult to find out who is really helping and who isn't.
To get an overview over the whole market takes months... Nobody has the time for that. Right...
But can you trust your doc? Actually not really when it's about that.. the more he tells you you have to pay by yourself, the more he comes with new since numbers which are still not really official, the more it is likely he will get money from you but you will not be really sick, but he will say so. Journalists have found out that in a view trying. But I already knew that by working self in the business for ill people. I see that at the doc I was, I mean in the way they try to talk me into medicine or labour. I said mostly no, because not everything is needed to be known or done.
At least you have an inner voice which tells you better then any doctor. Just ask a pregnant women or those who got their children 50 years ago. They know about it.
So what is the result now? The burn-out is a disease quite right for the industry because they can do big money out of it without a big danger of doing harm. But often they do not help but take your hard earned money. You better try to get to three or four docs before you take it seriously what the diagnose means but always you should look at yourself- is your life style good for you, or should you finally start the change..?
It's your choice and as always I hope you do not stress yourself out because of fear of not being worth being beloved...
