I have a tale to tell

I wish old houses would be able to actually tell, then what would we know, what could we ashive and what rumours would delight our days!
Again I will write about my hometown and places you can discover when you are here.
As it is, this town is not that little and has a quite interesting history and while the years gone buy the town is changing.
As a tourist you'll be for sure most time trying to figure out what is the centre and what to see is most inside the ring of our overground. Of course the buildings, the museums and clubs are mostly there but we have also other places to discover and if you have more then three days or have been already in town once or twice, then here is another area whish shows you how different Berlin can look and feel.
Remember this town is founded in the way that two villages became one little town. Then all the other villages around became part of this town and so this place became bigger and still all those churches and gardens, all those parcs who have been once the centre of the life are now part of a big puzzle called Berlin and then as history went on or better the time, we took away houses, changed places and build street after street and the wars have punched in too and so some places are special as war has not done damage or humans themself.
After the well known Kurfürstendamm which was once the longes shopping mile, you'll find the Schlossstrasse in Steglitz. Just 10- 15 min away from the Zoo and the old centre of the west part (you remember that there was a wall once splitting the town in two).
But shopping itself can be dull, can't it? So why should you be there, coming out of the underground? To see the "Bierpinsel" a building colourful and closed now due to unsurence fight? No, it's because the parallel streets are a wonderful area to do a walk before or after shopping and having a coffee. Why? Because you can find an italy villa or some house with a south german balcony or a miracle house or a little castle. The reason? The war did not destroy much in this area and it is a quite walk you'll take and your orientation point or better street is the Grunewaldstrasse as you walk the streets left and right, up and down.
For me it is a pleasure to take the dog walks there.
Look those picutres down below will give you a short impression. Don't they?
Thought for me, it feels like beeing in a whole other town not being in Berlin. And that is another reason why I recommend this little part to discover and if you come buy bus, then take the M48 and a lot of time, as this bus line can be taken from the centre in the east part and will take about an hour which is actually worth as you get a sightseeing tour too. Does this sound good? Well then... have fun!

The gardener

Some of my near and dear say a gardener has passed my way- meaning, am I doing the right job?
Well, I am good at my job and like the work but it is true, it's no big love and so I am not missing the work, when I have my days off. But doing some things in the garden, with plants and flowers I always miss it when I don't have the chance to do so.
I love to work with them and could be there for hours and one of my dreams still is a little house and a big garden and I am very sure that I could survive this way. Thought I am not professional and just reading a book about gardening once in a while.
I just do and watch and learn that way and seems to have a good hand with it.
No, it does not always grow the way I hoped for but that is the way it is for a gardener to see, which plant likes which place and what can you do to make it better, more beautiful and it is absolutely a never ending story as you start each year anew and a garden, even a balcony is never finished. But like the most gardener and hobby gardener we know this is part of what we enjoy. Have the plants survive? What about a new combination of plants and do they like each other this year? Have I bought a good plant and will this seed grow and how fast, how much, how big?
Actually if the GDR was still in existence I had no other choice then to become a gardener as I am handicapped and so we only had a couple of jobs we were allowed to learn and practice. Yes, we were second hand citizen. We have been good enough for the worst job and the stupid one.
But having grown in a time when it was normal to have a garden to plant vegetable, fruits and herbs, I have learned by my grandmother a big deal how to maintain a garden.
I guess in the next years I will finally have my own garden as going from balcony to roof garden makes it very likely to make this dream come true.
And then I will always see the little beauty inside a garden, between the leaves, the branches like you can see on the following pics. And if you look closer you'll see that there is always a little changing.
Enjoy and if you like write me your experiences and thoughts about gardening.

Is this art?

Making my walks in town I can discover places in Berlin where you can see some art.  I don't mean museums and places where they sell art. Those are more like little projects and usually you can't buy those objects. I don't even mean those graffitis. Plastic figures or installations are there to find and sometimes you wonder, if it is really art and so I start mostly talking with my friends what they believe. Thought if someone says what he did is art- we now have to take it for exactly that but then, sometimes it is hard to take it. Even for me who likes many styles of art and is very open.
The problem mostly starts when it is about modern art or better concept art as it is often very obvious that we do not understand such or see anything it.
Usually I can get a feeling for the object but this time, the other day an installation from -Relational Rubati- gave me nothing. Well, she is known for very minimal art but that object used to be not so minimal and if you look at the pics you wonder how less there can be to call it art. I could read an expression about it that this version was made through moves and it leaves the shadows and echos of what she has done just in the moment as she do not plane much before- she just does. She wants to let us see into new perspectives of reality. Actually a lot of words for the simple- I just did it. For me this was no art, thought I have to take her by word and take it as such, but I have the feeling I will deny her the opportunity.

But when I looked around I found the unlycky Superman again and an installation who seemed very japanese. It's called unknown livings.

Funny thing is that the most art a like thing was wrapped next to all of it. Who have known this?

So when you walk around and try to be with open eyes then maybe in the -Schwedter Strasse- at the "Milchhof" you'll discover new wonders of modern art or more classical one.

So even me can be surprised what people call art and even the best and greatest fan of art has his borders and to admit that you better draw the line somewhere... But where? The discussion goes on....
