Now we arrive at the last part of my tour through the South. Leaving Krabi, I took the bus to come to the well known Phuket.
As it is with Bangkok, Phuket is more then just the town, it is a whole area in the south of Thailand, the South on the West-coast. Kind of. Meaning it is actually and Island with the town Phuket in the south-east.
So places like Kathu, Chalong Patong, Karon Beach and Kata (Beach) are all in the name or better under the name of Phuket to find. The last three I named are on the West coast of the Island.
I was in Kata nearby the very big, white Buddha statue on the hill.
On the West coast you'll get the best of sunset and beautiful beaches with palm trees and as it is, all the Island is very popular and so many tourist with bit money come and the buildings are much of the European standard.
What have I done there the days I have been visiting this area?
Taking a tour around this area with a moped was one of the things and I had the luck that my guide is a very god driver. It was in that case a big fun.
What can I recommend for you, while you are there? The beaches? The food? Yes, but drive around, the hills up and down, take the curves and roads. It is very nice, as it is also very interesting. The cliffs, the buildings, the nature all is amazingly to see and watch.

...and you can find more on youtube... don't be shy to look it up. The show a dance show, a firework of technic, music, dance and all you can do on stage these days. The ideas obviously taken from the stories around the Hindu Religious and it's describing of the worlds they believe are in existence, plus two fantasy worlds and celebration dances. With real animals but don't expect a story! There is none. There is actually in Patong town a show very similar to this one, also fantasy land a like.
Now we are on the way to Phuket town. You must also take the way as it is interesting to see and if you are able, go for the old town, as there are just now making it very beautiful there and you can of course shop and eat and take a walk. Just look at the pics and this is just an idea of it..!

More to do? Have you time over? Then follow me to the Temple with Wats. It's the Chalong Temple or the Latthi Wanaram Temple. Very nice to be there as the energy was very positive, the style different of the houses, Wats and Temples and it all is in use, even the crematorium, as people get burned when they are dead. From that Temple you can also already see the big Buddha on the hills.

Now again some pics from Kata and in the afternoon I was in Patong for Thaiboxing. Actually I did not box myself but watched it. To be true had I known that they let also children box against another, I had never been there. I can even understand less parents who bring their young children to such events as it is very brutal and bloody. Though they had part show and two of the guys have been for sure just for show there as they have been such bad talents and it was kind- let the white guys play thaiboxing and show the people what idiots they are. But if you are there you feel the need to drink soon and you feel a lot of testosterone in the air around you. And it was very loud. I had to shut my hearing aids and only then it was better to deal with the show. Though the show and fights have been three hours I would not go another time. But it was also funny to watch women who were part of the team of the fighter and when the sportsman got beaten she screamed in pain and when he was beating the enemy she screamed in joy. A constant nose of a very high screaming. Of course there was a lot of money changing hands and you can be sure that the Mafia owns this sport area.
So you have been warned.

Last pics are from the beach and airport, as this was to end the tour in the South and fly to the North of Thailand. But that will start with the next post. But believe me, if you stay any longer then I, look up the Pratong Temple, the little Islands on the East coast, dive if you can and talk to people! :-)
