When you try to live in another country you will come one day to the point where you realize how deep the culture you have lived with most of your life will affect your stay in the new country.
It is a background you will be more aware then ever and in the same time many question are popping up into your mind. 
Starting maybe with the fact that you may take a walk around in your new country and try to discover new places and so you find things they made to remind people of their past and history of this land. As all countries nowadays are made of all the people who came across the ocean, people who rode across the other countries to get in touch to you. 
What would we be if we never met each other that way in the past. We exchanged food, lifestyle and knowledge. 

Expect those reminder on strange places as this is often the case, even here in Gothenburg you'll find those things when you walk and try to look an other way as you used to. 
So I found evidence of the asian contact Swedish people had somewhere between the streets. Yes not saw them when I walked by a several times but then, it was discovered. 
Of course you maybe then start to wonder how people can hate other people, strangers or refugees. 
It's those looking with a blind eye that makes it possible. 
And many do not take the opportunity to discover other countries to their heart when they make their holiday there. Sadly, far to many prefer to stay blind to all that could be because they have somehow in mind all they need is all they already have and they will get whatever they want and so there is no need for more but that they always could be wrong does not come to mind. 
Anyway, when you start to go a new way you will come to the point where you ask yourself not only to see the difference between the old and new or to see what could be possible. You start to wonder what of all the different things may fit you and with which you may never come to make peace as some things can be compromise but sometimes you won't. It actually does not matter why, as it is often just a feeling and then the mind who declares the reason why. For other people it may not be logical but when does have feelings inside you have to do with logic. 
The trouble is, that if you are a man of mind you will get confused for a short or longer time and it won't be easier when you get back to your old home and then again come back to your new place. 
That is what I experience now, the different feelings of all good and bad here and back. The awareness of what I can and want to deal with and what not. The discovering that even known that I am living just now in Sweden it just came to my inner place that when I came back the other night that I had the strange feeling of being in a book, being in another country. Already realized that living in a nice and clean town, as Gothenburg is very nice and clean, it seems to me to clean, to quite and then I wonder... has the genetic of my hometown Berlin become that much part of myself that I feel less comfort with such a place like this here in Sweden? Because that is what will come to your mind. The places you're crown will make it into your flesh and the way you lived your live back then too. 
Wonder then how a refugee must felt as they are not here because they wanted, more that they needed to flee. How must this feel for them. Better being on a modern place? Maybe it is not. 
Also being in a foreign place makes you aware of what you like and what not, because it is always easy to make the mind stray but in new places you have no other choice then take this path and decide if you care, if you like and if not what to do and how to react. 
This is much what I do now.
And just now leaving my old flat and now living in a rented room is a compromise I do as I always lived alone, but as this is not for all time, but nevertheless leaving my flat feels good as it was planed so and so. 

Travel the world and living on other places as the one you know may give you the feeling of being lonely or and then being free, may give you the idea of what could be but most of all, after you felt all this it will most likely make you wonder where home is and where you will be in the next year as you may realize that you've changed from a man who believed that there is only one place of happiness and future to a man of the world and maybe you will become one of those who will live on different places all their live. 
I know some of them and I for sure know I won't crow old in Sweden, as I realized that I want to discover more and more. 
But so it is important for you to make friends all over the world who can not only help but teach you and give you strength just by being there. Then you maybe will also- like I - discover that you will survive somehow, even know your mother and father will not feel the same sure as you, as parents used not to do- how open they may be. 
Smile about that, that's the right way. 
Also many of you will feel that money is really not everything that matters to stay or to go. It is the way you feel how you want to liv your live. Thought as a single it is surely different to be in places no matter where there are. 
But no matter what you do.. all comes to clear and in the end every step you do is right, thought it may not always feel like this, but it will led you to the place you have to be and mistakes are just things to learn from, challenges to take and to remember to take the word problem out of it will help you a big deal because then you will always be able to stop and do it different. How can you not win that way. And with that positive thought I will leave you for now... enjoy the autum/ fall.

Now you're following my blog you know for sure I am now working in Sweden. Actually in Gothenburg. 
Well let's travel in time, as it was my luck I have the Tardis with me and we have to flee from the monsters anyway.

So follow me on my journey.
Now two months have gone and we are back to the beginning of the summer. As I am a lucky guy I have friends who waited to catch me up from the airplane and I have two big baggages with me and two little. Can't have enoughbut to be true, we don't need much in the beginning as starting to work in Sweden means you move on strange and foreign places. Make sure you can catch a placce before you come, because most time you won't be lucky to get a flat from your boss. 
As I was already here for interview I also did went to the skatteverket which is importand because you need to get your personal number. So now being back I have a personal number but am not to find in the book of folk. Which is a problem more or lesson in Sweden as it is the door to actually everything here. So writing a letter and saying that I will not exapt this was one of the first things I had to do. 
After that it was just to move in in the guest room of a freind of a friend, who luckely lived near my working place. So summer mornings started with a walk to work. Nice. 
Well let's go on... eating the swedish food is something I really like but after a while it became bit to much as it is much salted and much sweet. So starting to get a belly was not planed and I changed back to the way I did eat back home. And of course going on with a little sport.
That helped. But I was waiting for the answere from the skatteverket to be part of the folk. No answere came and so I have to always please my working partners to do part of the job for me, because I don't  have the elektiric sertification. Which is needed for computer and doors. Yes doors to medicine and struff only a few people are able to reach. Trying to take my passport is not helping, even with the swedish bank I have to discuss to sent in my check from work  and get the next wage direct to my bank. Well without a swedish pass there is next to nothing possible here. It's the only thing mostly which tells officially that you are you and are in existence. No matter how good your english, german or how new your frensh pass is- there like nothing worth here. 
So waiting, waiting and waiting... I now know I will wait much longer as this is bureaucracy.
That can take a long time here, although the law is clear for those who are living in EU, you just need a job or to study in Sweden so you must be part of the folkbook. But as it is everywhere, people are doing the job and so you can have luck or less of it.
But back to nice things... being in the amusement park in Gothenburg is fun and as it is summer every monday people will gather around there and sing along songs and stars witll sing with them. All kind of songs. All kind of peopel are included. That is very amusing. Also summer in Sweden can be warm and very nice as even the biggest towns here have a lot of nature inside. So sitting in a coffe and eating cake is in no way hard to do. And as I meantion I have friends here I visit them on there island, being in there garden and trevel to the beach. 
Having fun at work after my last job in Berlin is an pleasant experience thought I work on two places- a nursing home and in the district I work for which means I drive a care and of course drove two or three times wrong. Discovering the town that way gives me such a new sight, that it is very interessting but stressing time too as I also have to phone all the time which is in a foreign language hard to learn. So after the first two weeks I was feeling that my ears went hot and I need to cool them down and took an extra sleep to rest my mind and body. 
Of course after two months it has become much better with the language, although such things takes time. Another thing which takes time is to get a flat. To rent a room. Well guys, this is time consuming and less lucky. Nowadays many many people are moving for several reason to Gothenburg and there are far to less flats and rooms. Which means it takes a long long time to rent somewhere. And it is not cheap. 4000 Kronen for 10-15 m2 is minimum. Mostly it goes up to 7000 till 8000 Kronen. Living in the centre is so clear more expencive and can go up to 15000 Kr. .... 
So moving from one place to another is very common and after two months I moved the first time. 
Not sure how long I stay at my actual place and as it is not even sure how my working live will go on next year, I have to be prepared for everything. See, what I was promised did came out a bit different so, I have to see how the future will look they can give me when we talk next month. As I am not the youngest I feel that I am not willing to take what ever else may be. Some things will never be a question again to do. I am sure some of you know very well what I mean as it is sometimes we learn what things are good for us and what we are good for. To compromise is sometimes of course necessary but not always the best and sometimes I take the consequenses more likely then to compromise, for I know what I can bear or should I say willing to do, to take.
But as we travel in time the time machine refused to travel into the future. How unlikely! 
What more to see then? The houses here are very nice but don't judge a book by it's cover!
Even in the areas where mostly poor people liv, it looks from the outside nice but inside it can be totally different. That is maybe another discovering. In Berlin it is the same but mostly it used to be better inside then outside for the common people. 
But after all, it is easier to get a flat of your own no matter if it's rent or bought then here in Gothenburg. The waiting time is around 3 years here untill your can call a place your own. In Stockholm it is even longer and said to be 7 years. No wonder that the prices are high and people are moving that much but be sure, best way is to have less baggage. 
That's why I have my things back in Berlin and just now those little things home there are going to be left in an container for the next month. They will be in a Box and hopefully not for too long, as it is known that most people never come back and take them out of the box and into a new home. But this is just what people say. 
And as words go by so quickly we are back in the now time, with the rain in Gothenburg and the autum/ fall coming. The leavs are getting new colours and the wind gives you a blow to remind you that it is time to take the bigger clothes.

To find a job in another country

You maybe have read that I have come to Sweden and am actually working here but how did I do this and why in the world Sweden? 
Well, first of all, the love to this country became slowly bigger with the years I was visiting this country and my friends I have there and got over the years- so each year a new one- kind of. 
It was one day that I came out of the plane and breath the air and the first though was - home- in swedish. That was the moment I knew I will try it but before I cold look out for a job I had to learn the language. 
It took me three years to be ready and this is something all should think about before moving to another country. Because most jobs need you to talk to and the understanding of people. So you need to be able to talk about minimum 1000 words and to understand about 3000.  Sounds not much but in our every day life we use about 300- 400 different words. 
So three years is a realistic plan before you actually start for seeking a job. 
Well, some jobs do not need that much knowledge but be aware that the language is most important if you will succeed. Because after all you will need people and friends around you who can tell you things you never learn from a book, you'll never watch on TV. In time of Facebook it is a good thing also to search for people to get to know from  the country you want to move to, because they can help you with ideas where to look out for a job. It's very different from country to country so look out for that at home, on the internet, on the webpages of the town you want to move to or from the country. Those webpages use to have good advice where and how to search for job and what you need. 
Now back to my own journey. After three years, I searched for job and this was about to find a summer job, which means you just work a couple of months while others have holiday. This is a good chance to test and start a life in another country.
And while many will give up everything home, I did not gave up my flat, which was very good although I rented it to the wrong people and could have payed the same if the flat was not rented. But so is life and I can now recommend only to rent to friends or take an rent office to help you and make sure you get the right people. 
So I started my work in a little town in south Sweden which is around 2,5 hour away from Gothenburg.
This is something you should think about too. Start somewhere if able and see how it goes and if you start in a small town then you have also the chance to see if you can get through times with not much going on around you. Usually after the first job it is easy to get a job for a longer time or the next job for a couple of months. But as it is these days, maybe you have to go home and work there again and then try another time again in another town. So don't have to much baggage with you. 
How to send an application? This is something you should find out first after learning the language. For it is also a very different thing from country to country. In Sweden most job are to find on the internet and you send you interest per e-mail. And always write in the language of the country but be sure you can speak the way you write. They expect you to be that good what they read. 
Next thing is of course to make sure that your certificate is valid in the new country or you have the version you need. Make sure they except your education. And find out what is different from the way you work in your country and the way you do the same job in the new homeland, because this will be one of the questions when you have your interview. 

Now this time I had not only the luck of a short searching time (last time it took me next to a half year) I also knew where to search for job because I had already the plan to stay for longer then just three, four months. So I searched in Gothenburg, Stockholm and Borås, which is an hour away from Gothenburg. 
So the pics you see in the end of this blog are all from Borås, a very nice but little town not far away and because I trained my swedish all the years I could vote for the job I thought was best for me and the future here in Sweden. 

So... Be positive and have many good reasons why you want to work on the new place and what makes you able to work there. Some jobs are more easy to get as others but never forget after all no one needs you, so make them needing you. :-)
And then, three years is also a good time to collect some money on your bank. You will surly need it. It is never cheap to move and search for a new job, new home and new friends. 

And if you have all this ... well don't be shy to speak and tell people to correct you if you speak wrong or use words which are right but don't fit in. Even say thank you as much as you can and show them that you understood what they said. That way they trust you more and will also be more sure about you, because after all the most care about you. 

See, this does not sound too bad, doesn't it. It's like with so many things in life, be free to do what you want, but try to be smart with that, because success will be more able that way. And of course you have to want it in your heart and take it in the same time easy as possible, because your luck does never depend on the way you planed it, it depends on the way you think.

So think positive and take it as it comes. Even know you'll be afraid or feel this little fair in the back of your heart. It is always worth it. As long you are open for every test, you'll get through it.
