World Aids Day

..and once again we have the World Aids Day upon us, even thought they should change the name.
Why... it's not so much about Aids, it's about HIV.
What's the difference? Well maybe you remember that on is an infection of an Virus and the other is the last phase before you die and it is caused by the collapse of the immune system.
So HIV is not Aids but officially can cause Aids.
Yes still people die of the infection of that virus which has the ability to hide in your - well let's say it simple- health army of your body. There it starts the destroying game.
But why is it an ongoing thing? I mean we have to talk about it again and again.
Why are the numbers of new infection under the young people rising? Why do the most only know some pop stars who where infected and not about their best friend being it?
Should it not have changed?! I mean how long are we talking about all this?
How come that so many don't really know about what safe sex is? Shouldn't they all be educated enough?
Did it not changed the last 5 to 10 years? We can say it did, but it is an ongoing project and it's going very slow. But we talk about this disease more and mostly open in public and politic and then? In private? Actually, less people do talk about it in private, although it is a save place, isn't it?
Here we come to the point that in this case it is easier to talk to strangers then to your beloved one about that. It also helps that newspapers write about it and some popular people talk about it.
Yet, it is hard to do so in private, because that means we talk about sex and so about our weakness, fears and what we know about it, what we want to admit.
That's why it is mostly a problem to talk about sexual diseases on the job too, because it's kind of an restriction that you are a sexual active person.
This is not the worst, but talking about having a sexual disease means also you are not only sexual, you live in sin. You are dirty, you've taken risk and you know it. Don't you feel ashamed?
Why should we? Yes you would maybe, cos you learned it that way and as the press mostly described all sexual diseases as a bad thing, as a catastrophe, as something you should avoid and that the owner of a disease has to be destroyed or hidden, it is no wonder that talking about it is still seldom to find.
Is this the really worst? No, because what makes it difficult is the image in our mind. Syphilis i.e. has still the tattoo of the deadly curse. Although our medicine today is able to heal you.
With HIV or Aids you are an outcast, no matter where you live. This disease, even thought it is not the most dangerous and most frequently occurring virus, has such a bad image, that most don't likes to have it neither talk about it.
It was called the gay cancer, it was a unknown fright in the beginning, it was a disease for the sluts, for man who loved man, although under the first known victims there where women too.
It was something only drug addicted became.
So it can't be that an normal person next to you can have it and even now you think you have to see it in the face of another human, if he is infected or not. But the truth is, you can't see it. No one can.
The infection is much harder to get then it is with all the other sexual diseases. But most people are so afraid to touch one, that this is another reason why many don't want to talk to everyone about their infection. Because your reaction on the information has no logic. This is actually very natural. Just think about what you have learned, read and your own fear of life and it is a sexual thing, something with dead too, you have to confront yourself, all in the same moment. How can anyone react logical?
Some have learned, some do it from the beginning, cos they did not forget it's a human in front of them.
Some will learn it, some will avoid confrontation, some will flee as long as possible. Some will rather stay blind then take it in their life.
Yes safe sex is something you should always talk about before it all starts in bed or wherever you want to have your little fun.
There is no perfect moment. No.
Next to no one I've met asked me about my health status. And less are aware of the fact that there is no 100% safe sex. But I believe most of you know this somewhere deep inside. That is another reason why we talk so seldom about this with our nearest friends and family. And then live is all fun fun fun... like the spots, the movies, the stars and media are telling you. Isn't it?
Now that we talk about the problem when to say it, you maybe can imagine how hard it is to tell your friends and family that you are HIV positive.
We all will die, but here we stand on a new ground. Nothing is sure. How long? The therapies of the last 7 years are very effective and seems to have much less side effects then all the medicine before. What does this mean for you, when you have it and take pills? Will you live 10 or 20 years? What to do with this? What are the side effects in longterm? No one knows. No one even knows how long the virus can sleep in your body before it gets active. Should they not know in the pharmaceutical industry? Or are they simple not telling us, because it brings so much money, like they do with cancer. We don't even have the same test technic in the western world. You can still get a positive result in USA and a negative in Canada.
Lots to deal with as a bearer of a virus we may or may not survive.
So when and how to tell anyone? I mean in some countries you can't even talk about Sex.
What is with the people on work? Will they understand? What about the girl you've just met and fall in love with?
It is sure you will lose people, you will have your heart hurt.
How long can one bear the secret? Cos imagine, every time you travel, you will be remind, every girl or boy you met, you will be remind and if it's even for a night, every time on the doctor and every new doctor will remind you of it, and every child you see, will make you remind, every couple who has a baby will make you remind of it, cos you know that most will be to afraid about you touching the child. Every job you do or look for, will you remind of it.
But you are as always, the same man or women, the girl and boy with his dreams, hopes and weakness, with his strong sides and own mind. From the outside your life may not change so much. But inside, many get lost, having depression, having trouble with their body and are afraid and mostly they have to fight, but this takes times. It's never like in a movie. Mostly you go on as always and then slowly it starts sinking into you. Then the real change comes.
Of course, some prefer to hide from the truth and play as always. Sadly this is another truth but it is boost by the society.
That's why it is so important to keep talking about it from official sides.
That's why we have to start making people aware that having fun implies also taking responsibility.
For your own and for the others.
If you want to know more about HIV and other sexual diseases, there are organizations all around the world who will help you, answer to you and you can also look on the postings of my blog.. look under HIV, AIDS on the right side to this text.
So then.. after all, it is allowed to have fun, but better see then be blind, listen when getting educated and if you are not sure, then ask.

Georg Weise- an artist

From time to time, I like to introduce you to some artist I know.
This time is it about Georg Weise, mostly known as a painter.
But he also does plastics and mixing technics.
What is it you find so impressive from his work?
Well first he is not a newcomer, but still his work feels like this, as if someone entered  to world just a moment ago with his art and kind of style to expose things. Seems a modern painter but traditional in his heart.
Yes he has a very uncommon style in his working, which is known for simple things to see, but actually his work has a lot of content.
One of the first impression you get when you see his pictures is a feeling of diving into another world, romantic, sad and hopeful too.
It's absolutely not noisy and touches you deeper and deeper the longer you take a look at a painting or figure.
The impression of a simple picture start to fade, because first you may only see a flower, or a man, but the background is kind of already faded or hidden in snow or rain.
But some pictures are quite strong and hard, like those with all the electric cables and technic who stare into you eyes and nothing more is to see.
Some write that this is what we are so used to these days in our world, that we take it for given, all this technic and negative reactions and that we have stopped realizing these things. So these paintings are a story of lost though.. kind of.
But mostly you will see pictures of young man, going away, having closed eyes or in the newer paintings looking at you with a little smile, thought this all is romance and longing and telling you a story with just a few explanations.
But then this is not all which makes him a real artist. He is one of few who can interact with a frame.
Usually a frame just gives the border to a picture but as only some know, it is more important to a picture or painting as many may believe.
It can just hold a painting, but it can do much more, it can overlook a pic, can crash a pic or even dominate it, but also it can brighten his painting, held it up and make it deeper, give it a hug and make the topic deeper.
So does Georg Weise with his overworking and using of frames and if you wanna bye painting sometimes you can only buy it with the frame he made just for that special painting.
This makes his work exciting and worth a visit or to collect.
Yes you can get little or big one and he is also extending his work, so it will be interesting to follow him in the future.
Just now you can see 40 pieces of his work in Frankfurt/ Oder, his biggest exhibition. Called "First Love"- "Erste Liebe" in the Museum für Junge Kunst. You have the chance to see his talented work till 26.01.2014
www.museum-jungr-kunst.de
The exhibitions is positioned and assembled by Georg Weise himself and very well done. Every work of art has its space and you get a feeling of how they act in the space and when you stand in front of them. Sensual and smart in order are all those pieces of his work and it's just a little ...just a few you see. So then enjoy it if you can. Click on the pics to get them bigger.

Mein liebster Alptraum- a movie

Dangerous Game- a movie

A film by Abel Ferrara. Surely not his most known film. Actually I think most of you will never heard of it. The movie came out in the 1990tis and was not played in many cinemas.
Is the film that bad? No, actually not.
What is the film about?
O.k. This movie is about a man, a film director who makes a movie with two main actors.
These two main actors, a man and a woman have been a couple, more or lesson and play a couple in the story of the movie.
A couple on a point of no return, because the women became religious and the man stayed where they have started. He still is on drugs and alcohol and Rock'n Roll. So they try to figure out how to do now. As it is, the man can't understand his wife and wants everything back as it was.
Harvey Keitel plays the director and the film shows how he struggles to finish it, because the man who plays a drug addicted husband is on drugs itself. Then the wife playing actress on one hand tries to stay with him together, on the other hand she is separating from him and takes her own life and that means she does not know, not really know what to do. She is unsure, but plays the game in film business.
Then as this is not enough she sleeps with the director, which will be the fall of his own marriage.
So this movie shows the life and fiction couples and a film in a film, but also it shows the dark side of the film business and celebrity live.
Abel Ferrara uses the elements of drama, uses the fact that pictures can also show different between film and film reality of the movie and he uses fiction and ties a knot with all the stories he is telling, but such a knot that the real actors have more and more the problem to find the difference between their own life and the roles they play. Then the words the actors use are clearly though as a critic to Hollywood.
The movie itself is more a silence talking. Going from the slow start to the big drama at the end, although the drama is to find already on the way.
What more to say? The actress who plays the women in an anti Hollywood movie is Madonna.
Most of you will now think she is a bad actress, but actually she is not that bad, neither a very good one, but her problem was always she herself, she was always to big as a star the most time for her roles.
Yes, the first two or three minutes you may still think this is a women putting in a movie. That women! But then you will see, that she fades as Madonna and the longer the movie goes the more you forget who is playing this religious wife.
When the end of the film had arrived and you start to read the names, you just think: "What?, How!?".
So once again I will recommend to try a movie you maybe never thought of watching.

Asterix & Obelix

Dr. Who - 50th anniversary

November the 23. the Series named "Dr. Who" had his 50. Birthday.
Exactly 50 years ago, the broadcasting of the show started and no one believed it would be most successful.

Seeing the Doctor traveling through time and space from the time where TV was black and white to the modern days where we have not only color TV, also we have the best technic to make the stories more believable as there where and then the characters have changed in a very interesting way, i.ex. women are no more just a beauty next to the man.
Actually, after a little break in the broadcast, two english man decided to reinvent the show and put it into the modern days, cos the story was not finished yet, they also decided to change the Doctor and his habits.
And who did made this possible?
The women. First of all with the character of Rose Tyler.
She made the Doctor remember that his action has a reaction and also that he would be no better then his enemies if he goes on acting the same way they do.
And the other women who came after Rose, when she had to leave, they followed her path.
That's why the stories are very rich and never dull.

So now the 50. anniversary is a day to do some important and that was to make a film in 3D.
Thought this itself is nothing special, but as this Series goes on and on it only had one film in the beginning and never more. It really was time for that and the producers made it a big happening to show it all over the western world in cinema on the same day and only for one day. New record in Guinness Book.
I was there too and saw the movie.
How was it?
Great. The story had it all, the classic start from Dr. Who, the journeys from back to the future to back to the past, from having aliens and historical figures and settings to Galifry -the Doctors home planet.
You will meet the Doctor at a very critical point. Himself as the enemy of his history.
So who else could make him go on and find the right path?
Of course it only can be Rose, which is also BAD WOLF. And then Clara, the actual companion.

You may expect more of those brave and wonderful women but only these two will be there. How come?
Rose is naturally there cos it is a day of history of the Doctors live and the Daleks are part of it. She also shows the Doctor the reaction he will develop. Although many known her as the always crying girl who fell in love with the Doctor, you will be surprised that they made it different now. Not only she had grown, she also is funny and clever.
Clara on the other hand is more then just another companion. The women who died twice is an impossible thing and that is what the show is about too. Seeing the impossible and dealing with it as good as you can, because at the end, nothing is impossible and as Rose always found a way to the Doctor, so does Clara.
Although many would have liked Donna or River Song to be part of it, I think they made the right decision to have it only with those two. You simple can't please everyone.
Donnas Story is finished somehow and with River Song we know we will get some more adventures. Just Captan Jack should come back too.
Now as we go on talking about the movie, it is actually very speedy and funny and time flies pretty fast watching it.
But I cannot let it be to give also a minus point. There are aliens in the story, red one. The producers did not really clear up the story around them and the Queen Elisabeth.

On the other hand the Daleks, who are and will always be there in a good Dr. Who story, are put in in the story very well.
Because I think having them so many times on the show it is a risk to reinvent them, but again they did not fail.
The idea with 3D is not only the thing of time, they also found very interesting use of it, which made it really an experience to be on the cinema. But how.. I will not tell you- Spoilers! But those 3D made you feel like you are actually really in the Tardis and in the same room like the Doctor.
And yes, bow ties are cool. Many visitors had them on and also my Shizmo.

So at least thank you Steven Moffat and Co for this Show and let's continue our travel through time and space.

Gloria!

This is an album you may not know from her. It's her Disco Album and in my own eyes a very good one. All the songs go into each other-like a one hour dance marathon, also you can find on special cd's her spanish version of some of the english songs- by these version-it's more fun.
This Disco Album is a mix of Disco from old style, to new style and Latin, Salsa and Pop.
A very healthy mix and it's fun to listen too and it shows another side of her, light and with a lot of spirits. She sings of course about love, dancing, but also about her home country where she comes from, and then more.
I know a lot don't like Gloria Estefan so much and her Conga beat, but give it a try, this could be what you need.
I just wish they would play these songs in the Disco, cos you can dance to them so very well and your feelings are growing up and a smile will pop up on your face, I am pretty sure.

Ben Aaronovitch

I'm so exited- a movie

And here we are again with a movie to talk about. A hit in Spain but not so much in the world, sadly. Anyway it is the latest Pedro Almodovar and surely not his last movie.
This time it is an easy going comedy, not with the typical deep down into the humans world and its drama. Although we have a lot of drama, thanks to Cruz and Banderas who start the movie and are the reason for the drama to come.
As we know it from Almodovar, we again- have the big great fun to see known faces in new roles or known one...
Does anyone remember the movies "Airplane" and "Airplane 2" from 1980/82?
Well Almodovar has maybe seen them, because his film reminds me in many ways of these two.
Little crazy, but fanny movies where everyone is kind of freaking out and a lot of Sex and of course and airplane who has a problem.
The german name of the movie is "Fliegende Liebende"- "Flying lovers" which sounds weird but is actually quite true to the movie, although they named it this way because there was a TV Show with the same name in the 80tis.
I had a lot of fun watching Almodovars movie, although the little crazy drama he put in which played on earth and not in heaven felt a bit wrong in this movie and a bit too long. But otherwise I can only say when you wanna have a funny movie from him, an easy going too, fast and refreshing and don't want to cry while watching, then... it should be this movie.  (And if it's just because the funniest song number in an airplane)

Nationalgalerie Berlin
