Love me!

Haven't we read this many times? Have you not heard about loving each other and love yourself? Have you not heard and read about to close your eyes and stay in silence? Have you not heard to eat this and that and which food is good and bad? Have you ever wondered about when to know you can trust those helping books, those yoga session or promises of meditations lifting up your spirit?

Well, there is one book to give you a guide. One book to read and clear your mind. One book to be astonish, to smile and be afraid of when reading, while you long for more to read in the same time. One book to make you understand what does your path means and why do you live the way you do and how it comes you never reached your destiny yet. 

Yes, it's an old book and from a time where people did the same as we do today. Searching for answers, searching for peace and searching for easy ways. 

That book, very light written, but in no way boring, playing in another time and land will show you with its story how a man can change back and forth and finally understand, what he's up to and how he wants to live. 

This book tells you about a man who is giving up again a life style one after the other. A man who really tries everything to master silence, peace and to be without wish and to be therefore happy and wealthy. This man and his story shows you that you can go many ways but each way can lead to nowhere and anywhere, because it is up to you. 

This man is called Siddhartha.

Hermann Hesse has written many books but this one I recommend warmly as it is about us, you and me and the truth we still not live after. 

A spiritual book, not being spiritual like in our days, but just being a book, a story which   makes you feel the spirits nature. 

It's not a big book, nor a book with many sides. But it contains a lifetime. 

In a language which is smooth and soft, but growls into you. 

This is my second recommendation for the autumn of books.

Yes, another old writer, which is also dead but should be known still, again and again... and again....

Writing my book and how spring helps me

With this very sunny february here in Berlin and the fact that I have more time as usual to do things, I started writing again. Sun makes me go out and taking walks which in that case helps me to be creative and get my ideas how and what to write. May it be my blog or the books I am working at. Thought one book was meant to finally get its way to the world outside, I had to discover that part of it became lost when I did an update and I could not save it. Writing a book is a long process and a lot of work and to do it again to save up your work is for a moment a bit depressing but who knows why this was good at the end. Rewriting something maybe brings you a better book at the end. 

But then next to this I started a couple of weeks ago to take up again my work on a thriller, which I started last year. Now I feel I will finish this little book soon and hope to find a way to bring it out to you. 

I have already written thriller but all of them went into garbage as I never was really happy with them. Then one day I understood why I liked some of the thrillers I read and why I did not feel the same with others. It seems that you must have a good fantasy and logic chills or you have to know the subject by yourself. Many thriller are also god as the writer work much like journalist before they actually write the book itself. 

But I guess above the future and fantasy books, most will have something inside from the writer itself. The rest is more or lesson, heard, read and learned. 

Yes, writing is fun and work in the same time for me and I also read a lot which in its way helped me to develop my own chills to become much better and to understand how you could make a book. 

But that does not mean you know your style as you just have to try which fits you in the end. Also you will learn much about what kind of level you want to work. Is it Rosamunde Pilcher, Jane Austen or Stephen King? Is it James Joyce or Michael Moore. Will you do -shades of gray- or getting up with your level to Hermann Hesse? 

The level does not tell you how successful you will be at the end. Much is luck and the right topic. But then writing is best when you do it from your own and just for fun, thought we all hope to make money with this but more we hope as much people will read it and LIKE it. 

The biggest fear lies in exactly that fact. Will someone like my book?

How hard it can be book after book you wanna know. Well, I have a friend, he writes more and more, becomes better and better but wonders all the time so he writes about this in his blog: http://blog.hirschi.se/ Follow him in his process as an author.

I like to follow his way as it is always interesting to see where others are going, how they survive and what they know, what I don't. I like to know where they got the ideas and where problems lies on the way. 

I get my ideas from my own experiences and looking around. As many writers the life of family and friends is stuff to write down. Sometimes. 

But most inspiring is nature for me, which also gives me much power to actually do my work. Walking around in spring is something which gives me always joy and hope and the patience to go on. 

Tulips therefore these days remind me that life is an ongoing and beauty thing. Even thought you have to get through your onionskin. Very much like writing.

Books/ Bücher

Heute wieder einmal weitere Buchempfehlungen, diesmal aber von einem "bekennendem Schreiber", der selber Bücher schreibt. Seine Buchempfehlungen stehen auch für kommendes Jahr auf meiner Liste und wie schön, wenn man von Anderen tolle Anregungen bekommt. Schliesslich habe ich auch nicht immer ganz soviel Zeit zum Lesen oder gar die Muse, ein wenig zu schmökern, obschon ich viel lese. Dennoch geht da das eine oder andere Buch unter, gerade auch, weil es so viele Neuerscheinungen gibt.
Wunderbar zur Adventszeit, ja zur Weihnachtszeit und darüber hinaus, auch zum Jahresausklang oder Anfang, sind Bücher immer noch eine der besten Empfehlungen, Entdeckungen und Geschenke. Leicht zu tragen, nicht zu teuer und doch ungeheuerlich viel gibt es oft zu erfahren.
Sich einmal wieder in eine Welt versinken lassen ist eines der schönen Dinge, die ein Buch mit einem anstellen kann.
Nicht immer bildet Literatur und oft unterhält sie nur, aber sie ist meist (denn ja es gibt auch verzichtbare Veröffentlichungen) ihr Geld wert.
Leider bekommen die Schreiber längst nicht das, was sie verdient hätten, aber jeder kann mit dem Kauf eines solchen ein wenig mehr zum Erhalt de Schreibers, Dichters, Denkers beitragen.
Wem ein Buch auf Reisen trotz allem zu wenig ist, oder ein einzelnes zu schwer, dem sei immer wieder auch das E-book empfohlen.

Tagebuch eines Wombat/ Diary of a Wombat

Wombats sind doch wunderbare Tiere, wenn man sie einmal gesehen hat. Diese Mischung aus Hamster, Meerschweinchen und Maulwurf- nur etwas grösser und vor allem viel langsamer.
Wombats sind recht ruhige und entspannte Zeitgenossen und leben im Grunde recht gemählich. 
Das der Mensch sich immer mehr in deren Lebenbereich drängt dürfte nicht überraschen. 
Genau dies alles nimmt nun das Kinderbuch, was selbstredend auch für Erwachsene gut ist, nicht nur unter die Lupe, sondern auch auf's Korn. Mit viel Liebe und vor allem einem Augenzwinkern ist dieses Buch geschrieben und wunderbar illustriert. 
Wie es oft zurzeit für diese Art der Bücher typisch ist, gibt es sie im Grossformat, aber wer es lieber in einem ganz kleinem Format haben möchte, sozusagen als kleines Beigeschenk, der kann dies auch im Kleinem erwerben. 
Mittlerweile gibt es sogar eine Fortsetzung, jedoch empfehle ich eher das erste Buch zu nehmen und es zu geniessen, beim Kaffee, am Morgen, am Wochenende oder eben vor dem zu Bett gehen.
 
"Tagebuch eines Wombats" von Jacky French and Bruce Whatley (im Gerstenberg Verlag erschienen)
 
Wombats are very wonderful animals if you have seen them once. The mix of a hamster, guinea pigs and a mole - just a bit bigger and more slowly.
Wombats tend to be more the quite and relxed companion and actually they are living a very comfy live.
That mankind is more and more to conquer the living places of Wombats does not really wonder. But exactly this is taken up in a book for children and a story about a Wombat is told with a twinkle of an eye and a very warm humo(u)r. The illustration to that story are wonderful and joyful made. 
Like it often used to be for these kind of books you can get them in a big way but also if you prefer it, as a small book- like as a gift for a big boy.
Meanwhile there is also another story but I recommemd to take this book first and enjoy it, with a coffee, in the morning, in the weekend or just before you hoo to bed.
 
"Diary of a Wombat" by Jacky French and Bruce Whatley

Theodor in der Höhle des Zyklopen

Dies ist der zweite Band von den Machern Alex Cousseau und Philippe- Henri Turi.

Während Theodor das Drachenkind, der lieber dichtet als böse ist im ersten Band das Fliegen für sich entdeckt, schwebt er jetzt endlos am Himmel entlang, denn da kommt er besser zurecht mit seinen grossen, gigantischen Flügeln und den grossen Füssen. Jedoch ist es etwas einsam und so sucht er neue Freunde und gerät dabei an den Riesen Polyphem, der ihm nicht wohlgesonnen ist.

Das Buch ist auch diesmal im A3 Format, also riesig, was aber nicht nur wunderbar zur Geschichte passt, sondern den Bildern einen Detailreichtum gibt, den man vielleicht nicht gleich erwarten würde.

Wer meint dies Kinderbuch ist nichts für Erwachsene täuscht sich gewaltig, denn es ist einfach umwerfend süß und niedlich und aus dem Staunen herauszukommen während des Lesens ist unmöglich.  Allein schon der Anfang der Geschichte mit der darin enthaltenden Menü-Liste in Gedichtform ist einfach zu weg schmeißen.

So sei Euch also nicht nur der erste Band an das Herz gelegt, sondern auch der Zweite.

Ben Aaronovitch

Ben Aaronovitch ist meine letzte Entdeckung am Buchhimmel. 
Wie es das Leben so will, brauchte ich etwas Unterhaltung auf dem Weg von Frankfurt/ Main nach Berlin, da ich diesen per Zug zurücklegen musste. 
Also holte ich mir sein erstes Buch "Die Flüsse von London" und .... verschlang es. 
So leicht zu lesen, aber dabei niemals langweilig. Ein Krimi ja, aber es ist als wenn Harry Potter auf Jagt ginge. Dazu einen Streifzug durch London mit allerhand Hintergrundinformationen, was einen wirklich vergnüglich stimmt. 
Peter Grant, die Figur der wir folgen und dessen Erzählung wir lauschen, begibt sich in "Die Flüsse von London" auf zur Themse, nach Covent Garden und hat dabei mit neuen Wesen zu kämpfen, die er nie für möglich gehalten hätte. Und der Papierkram erst, den er bewältigen muss, neben Latein lernen und wild gewordenen Mitbürgern. Das alles ist nicht nur sehr phantasievoll und mit realen Fakten geschrieben, sondern auch witzig.
Noch lustiger und spannender wird es, wenn man sich den zweiten Band zur Hand nimmt. "Schwarzer Mond über Soho" und schon steckt man mitten im Rotlichtviertel von London, unter Miderwahren und Spitze; Vampiren die nie genug haben und einem Constable der sich der fleischigen Lust erwehren muss. Aber das ist noch nicht alles, denn jetzt kommt auch noch der Jazz hinzu. 
Kann Jazz töten? Das ist die Frage im neuen Jahrtausend. 
Ich persönlich bin ja Jazz- Liebhaber, aber auch wer keiner ist, wird seinen Spass daran haben, denn er erfährt viel über den Jazz und wie der sich in London verbreitete und wo man ihn finden konnte und heute erlauschen kann. 
Mit anderen Worten, der nächste London- Besuch wird nach Buch geführt.
Nun ist man nach dem zweiten Buch alles andere als gesättigt und da gibt es die wunderbare dritte Geschichte und man mag es kaum glauben, es wird noch witziger, bunter, actiongeladener und auch der Sex kommt nicht zu kurz, wie all die Kuriositäten die sich in der Londoner U-Bahn und sämtlichen Abwasserkanälen befinden.
"Ein Wispern unter Baker Street" erschliesst sich einem Stück für Stück, während man mit Peter Grant durch die Untiefen der Stadt rennt und versucht den Täter Dingfest zu machen.

Alle Drei Bücher sind mit leichter Hand geschrieben und die Übersetzung ist angenehm und überraschend gut gelungen. Hier hat man offensichtlich sich die Zeit genommen, einen guten Dolmetscher (Christine Blum) zu nutzen. 
So und nun viel Spass beim Lesen... denn das geht bei jedem Wetter gut.

Common Sense

Today I would like to recommend a book I have read... took me a while to finish it, 'cos I simple had too less time to read... anyway this book is from a friend and no I'm not gonna say - oh it is sooooo gooooood you haaaave to buy it!!!! 
Well, true is, the book is good... 
Why is it that?
To start with the style of writing... it is easy to read and simple but in no way boring. He clarifies and has examples who are good to see... although sometimes you need a bit patience 'cos he does not always take the short way to tell you what you should know... This is not because he is writing without use, it's because sometimes this is simple needed. 
What I like it's a book for business and private life to learn how to deal and manage things.
He writes about which way you can go and why... Yes he declares and gives you reason to understand why things work out or mostly not and what you can do, although last thing comes quite late in the book because it takes a longer time to describe the background for the ways you can finally go. 
I think most of you will be grateful for this, 'cos mostly we don't think much about it. If you have already learned a bit about this you should read it too, 'cos it can make you remember and ask yourself.. Am I doing it right now? Have I learned from my mistakes... Am I taking it seriously? 
You know to manage sounds more easy but we trap and fall often, which is no shame but why are we sometimes doing it over and over again and here we are with this book... It helps you to see it. Remember it. And because it has capability for private life it is also very helpful to understand all that what you do or should do. 
Just now I hope he will remember his writing very well 'cos there is a child coming and he has some examples about that too... Good luck with the practice... have patience and remember! :-)

Another reason to read this book is, it shows you how different we are and how easy we condemn others without really knowing them and in fact we are more and more having connections worldwide, so we should remember this... and he also makes you being aware of it with examples to try by yourself. He gives you question to answer... and you will laugh about yourself... how stupid we can act, although we though we never did it that much.. right... And he knows very much about it as a traveler and a man who speaks several languages...
The book is in english and that's why I think this is another good reason to take the lesson with it. It's a language which is common to most of us but let him explain this by himself.... search for the page... !
Third thing.. the book is in chapters, not too much -so you can deal easy... He catch you in the beginning and holds you and let you go with a final though... Which is always very good for you feel save with this..
And now... why not you read it... 
It's easy to read, helps you to understand and gives you something to work with in business and life. 
It's not too big and not boring you... gives you a lot of information and examples which are easy to find and understand... It connect practice and theory... so it is useful...

MY Marilyn

On August the 5. this year, Marilyn Monroe will be death exact since 50 years.

A very long time and still we see her films, love her pics and talk about her.

The way she died is still a mystery and it doesn't really matter why she dies, but after the last books about her which came out, it seems to be bad luck, an accident like, cos two of her doctors gave her medicine which seemed to have killed her, but anyway... we maybe never knew the hole truth and like i said, it does not really matter now...

I always liked this very special woman. And over the years, the more I got to know about her, the more I love her and what she's done. She really was and is a star, and not only that.... she was much more.... Some people called her a dumb blonde. Still there are some who think she is or better was a stupid girl/ woman. That is for sure untrue... after all the things I have read about her and what she had said... she must have been a smart woman.

Well we all know that she was known for her delay. Mrs. Monroe was late but not out of maliciousness. She once said that she is not to have for drill and discipline. She saw herself as a man, refused to be treated as a machine. She was very nervous and had very high expectations of her own performance. That's why she was often late.

But she was in my eyes an actress, a very good one, a comedienne and had that special gift to shine in every film she was in.

Her voice was special, that was because she acted with her voice because her true speaking voice was not so nice and special. Now we can really call it the Marilyn voice.... it is so special, that no one really can cover.

And the way she moved her mouth and smiled is so special, that you try and try but never come as near as you wish to the way she did it. It seems like a miracle.

And her songs.... she had some very good... sure her soul was not big but she knew how to spell, how to make a song so you want to listen to on and on...

After all she is best known for her acting in front of cameras, she was maybe the only one who knew best to play with to flirt with that medium. Even Madonna, who likes the camera a lot too, does not reach that kind of being in front of a camera.

That was maybe after all learning a gift too.... Oh she was very strict with the selection of images, almost out of her critical uncertainty.

What I like about her is, she never spoke ill of others. She did not care much for money and fame. Most of the money was donated, and she herself had only a comparatively small house. Nevertheless, she had many envious and bloodsuckers too around her and she knew this very well but for a long time she did not know how to get through this and how to deal best with them. Last but not least, the studios made it very difficult to her.

Nevertheless, it was very progressive, likely to be aware of it without realizing it. Ahead of her time. She demanded higher salaries for women, made herself independent with her own production company. Ensured that the actors were not only bound to a studio. Made sure that she could say a word in the publishing rights.

She was always just a Sexsymbol for the studios, never really had the chance to get a role which was bound just to acting. That must have been very difficult for her. But she was more down to earth than many believe... not only did she spend her money and time for children, animals or plants like trees.... She was also very often in the clubs and thought that all people are equal... and so on day she said to a manager of a club for white people, that he has to let Ella Fitzgerald play in his club. If he does, she will be there every night and she was and Ella never had to play in little clubs again and so began the rise of many black Jazz artists and other musicians.

What a smart woman and that was in a time black and white people lived still (in most parts of the USA) separate.

So I think it's very right when a "David Klein Quintet" plays Songs of Marilyn... ...a Jazz album you will like... and of course most of her films are still very much to recommended.

And a new picture book about her has also just appeared, I would definitely call this book as one of the best I've ever seen. The name is Marilyn Monroe- Metamorphosses-Transformations (Marilyn Monroe/ Metamorphosen / Verwandlungen- erschienen im Schiermer Mosel Verlag).

This book not only shows pictures, it also contains the last interview with M.M. and sentences she herself said once or other told about her. Many of the pics you will see the first time and some of them you will know well. It is such a pleasure to go through this book and you once again realize why she is still so popular and lovable.

LOVE LETTERS

Love letters of great man and women...

...is a book I found not long ago, but heard of a year or two ago...

A book with letters from different people of different times...

Starin' with great man some lived around 1980 and finished in the year 1918... and then goes on with great women of time from 1399 till 1917...

All letters have an introduction of the man or the women, who wrote a letter or two we are aloud to read. We have great names like King Henry the eight... or Richard Steele, Laurence Sterne or W, Amadeus Mozart, Napoleon and Gustave Flaubert, but also Katherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn or Queen Victoria and Emily Dickinson and many more names. Names you maybe never heard before or just have somewhere in the back of your mind. But it's not so much about the names, it' s the letter you get...

No matter if Oscar Wilde is writing, you read it too- not only the one who was mentioned.

Reading all those letters is reading something special, but also something we never really got an idea of... these letters are neither full of drama or only with painful worths in our eyes... No, these letters have passion inside, drama as well, but also description of love feelings, of how love gets them feeling and how they come through a day without the beloved once... you feel kind of warmth.. Many wrote to the love affair and others to a friend they fell in love with. Some got an answer, others never got the love replied. But all letters are a little peace of hope and kind of joy...

Reading them gives you a touch of feeling a warm breeze and then I think these letters are god to read at an open fire place or next to candlelight, but as I do... also god to read in the underground.. well god for fall and wintertimes... the letters are like short stories.. simple pleasure of reading and yes you might ask yourself, why is this not something we do today.. Above all internet, above all computers, mobiles and things like this.. why not just write your loved one a letter like this... some romance is never to late and it's not about to get a thank you or even an answer... it's just the joy of sitting and enjoying someone with lovely worths... afraid of stereotype? Why not.. those man and woman didn't choose them often but had sometimes big self-confidence... but never where afraid of using words....

Yes a smile can say more than words, but when you're not at home... why not writing.. it's never to late to start... don't tell me about no having no time, or nobody will read it.. no excuses...no more...
